How To: Downgrade iOS 11 Back to iOS 10.3.3 on Your iPhone

How To: Downgrade iOS 11 Back to iOS 10.3.3 on Your iPhone
There's lots of new stuff in iOS 11, but just because things have changed doesn't mean they're better. So if you've updated to Apple's latest OS and decided it wasn't for you, you'll be happy to know that you can still go back to iOS 10.3.3.But this window of opportunity for downgrading won't last forever. Now that iOS 11 has gone official, Apple will soon stop signing old firmware versions, meaning you won't be able to roll back unless you've saved your SHSHS2 blobs. So it's your last chance to get the Auto-Brightness setting back to normal or avoid other annoying changes.UPDATE: Apple is no longer signing iOS 10.3.3, so your chance to downgrade back from iOS 11 is no longer an option. However, you can still use this guide to downgrade an iOS 11.X.X version back to a previous iOS 11 version that's still be signed by Apple. The process is the same.Until that day comes, however, it's actually quite easy to revert to iOS 10.3.3. All you need is a Mac or Windows PC, and the process only takes a few minutes of work, so let's go ahead and get started, shall we?Don't Miss: The Most Annoying Changes in iOS 11 (& How to Fix Them)

Step 1: Disable 'Find My iPhone'First, you'll need to disable Find My iPhone. To do that, head to Settings, then tap your name at the top of the list and select "iCloud." From here, select "Find My iPhone," then make sure to turn off the toggle switch on the following screen.

Step 2: Download the IPSW File for Your DeviceNext, you'll need to download the iOS 10.3.3 IPSW file for your particular device. This is a firmware file you'll be installing with iTunes to roll back your operating system, and luckily, we have a highly trusted source where you can get this file. So head to the following link from your computer, then pick your device and model.Download the iOS 10.3.3 IPSW file for iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch From here, choose iOS 10.3.3 when prompted, then click the "Download" button. The file is rather large, so it may take a while to download, but make sure to note the file's location once it's finished.

Step 3: Connect to iTunesNext, connect your device to your computer with a Lightning cable, then open iTunes if it doesn't launch automatically. From there, make sure the phone icon appears near the top-left corner of the window — this signifies that iTunes has recognized your device.

Step 4: Put Your Phone into DFU ModeNext, turn off your phone while it's still connected to the computer. This can be done by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button, then swiping the slider. From there, you'll need to boot into DFU mode. This varies depending on what device you own.iPhone 7 or 7 Plus: While the phone is turned off and connected to iTunes, press and hold the sleep/wake button for 3 seconds. From there, press and hold the volume down button while still holding the sleep/wake button. After 10 more seconds, release the sleep/wake button, but continue holding the volume down button. Wait 5 more seconds, then release the volume down button — if the screen is still black, you're in DFU mode. If you see the Apple logo or a "Connect to iTunes" message instead, try again. iPhone 6s or older: While the phone is turned off and connected to iTunes, press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button simultaneously. After 10 seconds, release the sleep/wake button, but continue holding the home button. Wait 10 more seconds, then release the home button — if the screen is still black, you're in DFU mode. If you see the Apple logo or a "Connect to iTunes" message instead, try again. Once you've successfully entered DFU mode, iTunes will display a message confirming that the phone is in recovery mode. Click "OK" here.

Step 5: Install the Older FirmwareAfter that, if you're using a Mac, hold down the Option button on your keyboard. Otherwise, if you're running Windows, hold down the Shift button. While still holding the keyboard button, click "Restore iPhone." Next, a file browser menu will appear — use this to find and select the IPSW file that you downloaded in Step 2. Once you've done that, click "Open." After a few seconds, you'll see a popup informing you that iTunes will now install iOS 10.3.3 on your device. Click "Restore" here, then sit back and wait, because the process of installing the older firmware will take up to 30 minutes. Along the way, you may be prompted to enter your PIN on your device, so make sure to do that if asked. Once iTunes has finished installing the older firmware, your device will automatically reboot. When that happens, go ahead and disconnect your phone from your computer.

Step 6: Restore Data from iCloudOnce the process has finished, run through initial setup on your iPhone, then select "Set Up as New" if you want a fresh start, or "Restore from iCloud Backup" if you want to get all your apps and data back. If going with the latter, just sign in with your Apple ID, then select the most recent iOS 10.3.3 backup, and your apps and data will be restored. You can also choose "Restore from iTunes Backup" instead if you archived iOS 10.3.3 before installing iOS 11. At this point, you should be back to the comfy confines of iOS 10.3.3. But if you're having any trouble with the above downgrading method, let us know in the comment section below and we'll try to steer you in the right direction.Don't Miss: 91 New Features You're Missing Out on If You Don't Upgrade to iOS 11Follow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, and Instagram Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

How To: 15 Reasons to Unlock Developer Options on Your Android

How To: 15 Reasons to Unlock Developer Options on Your Android
In case you didn't know, Android has an awesome hidden settings menu called "Developer options" that contains a lot of advanced and unique features. If you've ever come across this menu before, chances are you just dipped in for a minute so that you could enable USB debugging and use ADB features. But there are plenty of other cool things you can do with this menu, it's just that most entries aren't exactly labeled in plain English, so they're not very easy to discover. In an effort to curb all of that, I'll show you some of the most interesting Developer options settings below.

Enabling Developer OptionsIn order to access any of these cool options, you'll first need to unlock the hidden Developer options menu on your device. To begin, head to the main Settings menu, then select About phone, About tablet, or About device. From here, tap the "Build number" entry 7 times in rapid succession, and you'll get a toast message informing you that the Developer options menu has been unlocked. From here, just back out to the main Settings menu again, and you'll find the new "Developer options" entry near the bottom, so go ahead and select it.

1: Process StatsThe first interesting Developer options entry we have for you is called "Process stats." When you tap this one, you'll see an interface that's very similar to Android's battery menu—except this one gives you details about your device's RAM memory usage. The bar graph at the top of the screen tells you what percentage of RAM is currently in use, and the app listings beneath it are ordered by how much memory each app is currently using. If you tap the bar graph, you'll see the amount of time your RAM usage has been reported as "Normal" or otherwise, and beneath that, you can see the types of processes that have been using your memory. On the other hand, if you tap an app listing from the main Process stats menu, you'll see details about the app's RAM usage, with a button that lets you easily force stop a RAM-hungry app.

2: Advanced RebootIf you enable the "Advanced reboot" setting, your power menu is altered to include new options. Instead of typical Shutdown and Reboot options, when selecting Reboot, you'll see two new options: Recovery and Bootloader. By choosing either option, your device will reboot to the corresponding option. With this feature, no longer do you need to hold various button combinations or use ADB commands to enter these recovery mode or the bootloader menu. Do note that many OEM disable this option, so you might not have access, depending on your device.

3: Mock LocationsThere are some apps in the Play Store which spoof your location and trick other apps into thinking you're in a different place. However, to enable their functionality, you must first unlock Developer options.Under the option "Select mock location app," choose the app that has location spoofing abilities. Once selected, you will now be able to use the app to change location, whether that in the town next door or another country.Don't Miss: Bypass Location Restrictions to Use ANY Snapchat Geofilter

4: Hi-Fi CodecsIn Android Oreo, Google added support for Hi-Fi audio codecs to the operating system. When using Bluetooth devices which support these codecs, your phone will automatically switch to the corresponding codecs to output the audio in better quality. However, what if you happen to have a device which supports multiple codecs? In Developer options, you'll find the "Bluetooth Audio Codec" setting, which allows you to configure codec selection manually. By default, "Use System Selection" is enabled, which automatically selects a codec for you. However, you can change to any of the other audio codecs manually (including non-Hi-Fi choices) as long as the connected accessory supports it.

5: Force RTL LayoutThis next cool Developer option is mostly just a fun way to experience your phone in a new layout—though if your system language is set to Arabic, Urdu, or Yiddish, for example, it can be quite helpful, as well as if you're left-handed.Toggle the switch next to "Force RTL layout," and the orientation of almost all elements on your screen will switch over to an RTL, or right-to-left, layout. Text formatting will still be defined by your regular system language, so you can still read everything, but the formatting might be a better fit for certain languages.

6: Window & Transition Animation ScaleThe next entry in our list is actually a set of two options that let you adjust the speed of transition animations. "Window animation scale" affects transitions that occur within apps (such as popups, for example), and "Transition animation scale" deals with the animations that take place when you're switching between apps. A third similar option, "Animator duration scale," only affects certain loading animations, so we'll skip over that one. If you'd like to speed up the animations, set these options to a value lower than 1x, and almost magically, your phone will instantly feel a lot snappier. On the other hand, if you'd like to see the animations in slow motion, set the values to a higher number.

7: Force GPU RenderingThis next option might help if you're experiencing graphical sluggishness in some apps. As of version 4.0, Android now uses your device's dedicated graphics processor to render two-dimensional objects by default. Some apps, however, haven't been updated to take advantage of this faster method of rendering graphics. So if you have any apps whose graphics seem to be rendering slower than the rest of your apps, enable the "Force GPU rendering" option. This will make sure that all apps take advantage of Android's hardware acceleration feature, which should make the user experience a lot smoother in some cases.

8: Show CPU UsageThis next option will come in handy if you've ever wondered what was going on behind the scenes on your Android device. Enable the "Show CPU usage" toggle, then you'll instantly see an overlay on your screen that shows you all of the processes that are currently running. These entries are ordered by their current CPU load, and your overall processor usage is shown as a bar graph at the top of the screen.

9: GPU Rendering ProfileIf you'd like to test your device's graphics performance, select the "GPU rendering profile" option and set it to "Show on screen as bars." This can be a very useful way of comparing the graphics performance for different apps on your system, since the overlay will be shown on top of all screens. The condensed graph at the top of your screen shows recent graphics performance history, while the bars across the bottom of your screen depict graphics performance on the fly. Higher spikes mean there was a heavy GPU load at that moment, so in general, this is a great way to see if an app is dropping frames or performing poorly from a graphics standpoint.

10: Background Process LimitIf your "Process stats" menu was looking abysmal earlier, or if your phone just doesn't have much RAM, you might want to look into this last option. Select "Limit background processes," then you can choose the amount of processes that are allowed to run in the background and eat up memory on your device. For instance, you can set this to "2 processes at most," then only the current app and the two most recent background processes will be allowed to run, which should free up a lot of memory on your device.

11: Force Apps into Split-Screen ModeSplit screen is a useful feature first introduced in Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This feature allowed users to view two apps simultaneously by dividing the screen into two sections. However, to use split-screen mode, the app must support the feature, which isn't always the case. For example, the ESPN app doesn't support split screen, which is annoying especially you want to watch a game while also view an article. In Developer options, you can change this by enabling "Force activities to be resizable." Once activated, restart your device. Now all apps will support split-screen mode, even if the developers decided against it. Do note that this isn't a foolproof method. Since you are using a feature not intended to be used by the app, it may act buggy or crash a few times.

12: Force Apps to Install on SD CardAndroid also includes an option to force apps to install on the SD card. While this feature is much older than split screen mode, there are still many apps which don't support it. Sure, this may affect much fewer users now (as many OEMs continue to create phones without microSD support), but installing apps on the SD card is still a useful way to conserve space.By enabling "Force Allow Apps on External" and restarting your device, you will no longer be blocked by app developers — any app can be installed on your microSD card. However, this can break apps not designed for this method. Therefore, use trial and error to see which apps function correctly on the microSD card and which ones don't.

13: Enable 4x MSAA for More Realistic GraphicsAnti-aliasing is a technique used to improve digital images by reducing jagged edges. Since in the real world, not everything operates in straight lines, this technique allows for digital objects to be display more realistically. Especially in gaming, this technique helps gamers escape from world, as the things created in the game look more like their real-world counterparts. There are a number of techniques used to accomplish anti-aliasing. One technique is MSAA, which Android supports in the form of 4x MSAA. 4x MSAA renders each image displayed by an app or game at a higher resolution (four times larger than the display resolution), then reduces the larger image to match your phone's screen. Using the additional pixels from the larger render, MSAA can reduce the jagged lines.By enabling "Force 4x MSAA," you can force all games and apps using OpenGL ES 2.0 or higher to use the technique to improve the image. As a warning, this feature will increase battery consumption, so we only recommend it on a phone with a big battery.

14: Allow Ringtones Through Bluetooth HeadphonesBy default, whenever you are using a Bluetooth headset and you receive an incoming call, you will hear a generic ringtone different from the one played on your phone. With the option "Enable in-band ringing" enabled, you can change this behavior so that you hear your ringtone through your Bluetooth headset.

15: Change the Default USB ConfigurationWhenever you connect your phone to another device via USB, by default, your phone will begin charging. Using a notification, you can adjust their action. However, Android also provides you the ability to change the default action, but this requires that you've unlocked Developer options first. In the Developer options, tap "Default USB configuration," where you can modify what your phone first does when connected via USB. When you select "Default USB configuration," you will be presented with five options: File transfer, USB tethering, MIDI, PTP, and No data transfer.File transfer will change your device to USB mass storage, allowing you move files between the phone and the other device (such as your computer). USB tethering will let you share your device's data connection without another device, effectively turning it into a wireless adapter.MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) enables your phone to communicate with musical instruments and other sound producing equipment. And PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) will make your phone appear as a digital camera when connected to a computer. While it is similar to MTP, it does offer some additional features such as the ability to grab photos from the phone (while in this mode) and move them to the computer. The first step is to take a good picture of yourself with decent lighting (try to do this alone as it will help). The next step is to visit cartoonme.com and submit the photo to the site. Pay them via PayPal (3.50 Euros), wait two days, and viola, you have a cartoon version of yourself. That's it! Why make the avatar yourself when you can pay approximately $5 to have someone else do it for you? Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Doing either of the above steps will only remove the app from the Apple Watch and not the iPhone. To remove an app from both devices, simply uninstall the app from your iPhone like normal. There is no way to keep the app on the Apple Watch if you want to remove it from the iPhone. If it's not on the iPhone, then it can't run on the watch.

How To: The Easier & Better Way to Control, Track, & Locate Your Lost or Stolen Samsung Galaxy S3 Remotely
I love surprises. Surprise parties, surprise visits, surprise Patrick... But there are times when a surprise is the last thing you want, like reaching into your pocket to find that your Samsung Galaxy S3 is not where it should be.Having your phone stolen used to be the end of the story, but as technology continues to improve, our ability to locate and secure our smartphones does as well. However, unlike iOS, there isn't any built-in feature for finding lost or stolen Android devices.Thankfully, there's no shortage of Android tracking and security applications available on Google Play, including Where's My Droid, Lookout Mobile, and Prey Anti-Theft. But a new app by AntTek Software does everything they do, and a little more. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Controlling & Tracking Your GS3 with Droid FinderWhile the apps mentioned above are certainly adequate, Droid Finder is another feature-rich alternative that pretty much does it all. On top of the standard features (GPS location tracking and remote wipe), you can use Droid Finder to send SMS messages, snap a silent picture of the intruder, get notified of any SIM card changes, and even see if the phone is moving on foot, in a vehicle, or stationary.
Installing & Setting Up Droid FinderThe installation is simple, but the full setup takes a little more time. The app takes you through each feature and shows you the biggest risks on your device. If you want to fully test it out and see how each feature works, you'll also want to have a computer handy.
Step 1: Download the AppObviously, you'll need to download and install the Droid Finder app from Google Play.

Step 2: Set Up Security FeaturesIgnore the Google+ sign-in for now and tap on the first icon. It will say that your device is at risk—but don't panic. This just means that you have yet to set up any of Droid Finder's protective features. You will need to tap on each individual exclamation point to activate or setup the feature. If your passcode isn't up to snuff, you will be advised to change that ASAP. Just hit Change now and enter in a stronger passcode. Continue going down the list and configure each feature til your phone is Fort Knox.

Step 3: Test It OutAfter activating all the security measures, you should test them all out so you're prepared to use Droid Finder if your device is ever lost or stolen. Here is where you can sign into your Google+ account. You'll want to sign in on your computer as well since the features available through your account on the Droid Finder website are what you'd use in the event that your phone goes missing. Once signed in, you can track the location of your GS3 from your Droid Finder account and see exactly where it is on the map. You can also call your phone, lock and wipe it, send a SMS and even see the current Wi-Fi network your device is connected to.

Using SMS CommandsThe ability to control your phone via SMS commands comes in pretty handy. Under SMS control, there's a list of commands that you can send to your phone to have it do various tasks like lock or unlock, send a text to the person in possession of the device, and turn on lost mode. It's a good idea to go down the list and try each command so you can actually see what happens on your S3. That way you'll have a better idea of how to handle the situation if you ever actually need it. It would be smart to write down the commands or save a screenshot and send it to yourself so you always have them on hand. Where it says <PIN> or <MESSAGE> you will need to enter the correct information as it is not part of the actual command.
Using Trigger ModeProbably the most unique feature of Droid Finder is the Trigger Mode. Trigger Mode allows you to notify the person who has your phone that it's lost or stolen, and that it's protected. The app has four different settings: silent, medium, aggressive or custom. In silent mode, Droid Finder will take a picture of the thief and send a text message to your secondary contact number, leaving the intruding unaware of anything you are doing. Aggressive mode, on the other hand, takes a picture but also shows a warning and enables lost mode, which locks the phone.
How Do You Protect Your Phone?Overall, Droid Finder is very useful for securing your phone before it's lost and also helping in the recovery process. If you're looking for an alternative, aeGis is another app that lets you lock down and control your device remotely, and you can even use something totally unexpected like Dropbox to help track it down. There are plenty of ways to find your phone, even if it's on silent. And if you to happen to stumble across a lost phone, be a good Samaritan by following these tips to return it to its rightful owner.Have you tired Droid Finder? What's your favorite "find my phone" app? Let us know in the comments section.

How To: Add Additional Emails to FaceTime & Messages in iOS 11

How To: Add Additional Emails to FaceTime & Messages in iOS 11
Using either iMessages or FaceTime on the iPhone is a great alternative for coworkers to stay in touch in the event that messaging services like Slack go down. They're also a handy means of communicating between buyers and sellers, as it provides a more intimate way of either checking out or showcasing a product. But you're not always going to want to give out your real number to everyone. As great as using iMessage and FaceTime for business purposes are, many will no doubt raise concerns about privacy. Sharing your phone number or primary iCloud email with colleagues, buyers, or sellers is less than ideal, as it's private in nature and is only usually shared among friends and family.Fortunately, iOS 11 has a simple solution to this problem; It lets you add additional email accounts such as a work-related addresses or ones linked to either eBay or Craigslist, to mask your primary iCloud account. Though similar to iOS 10, the new method varies slightly in where to access the setting for adding accounts.Don't Miss: How to Add Email Accounts to Mail in iOS 11 on Your iPhone

Step 1: Add Additional Emails for FaceTime & MessagesBefore we get the ball rolling, it's important to note that you can't add additional iCloud accounts, as doing so will yield an "Invalid" result upon entering, so only email accounts not linked to Apple and iCloud can be added on.That said, open the Settings app to get started. Tap on your name at the top, then select "Name, Phone Numbers, Email" once inside your Apple ID page. You may need to input your Apple ID password to continue. From there, tap on "Edit" next to Reachable At. Once you've tapped on "Edit," an option to "Add Email or Phone Number" will now appear right under your primary iCloud accounts, so go ahead and select it and tap on "Add an Email Address" once the confirmation prompt pops up from the bottom.

Step 2: Verify Email AccountsNow, add the email address you wish to use with both Facetime and Messages and tap on "Next" to proceed. For security purposes, Apple will send a verification code to the address you provided, so check your email and input the six-digit code once you've retrieved it. After your email's been verified, tap on "Yes" to confirm its addition from the prompt that appears. If you only wish to use the email address for FaceTime, select "No" from the prompt, then go to "FaceTime" inside Settings and tap on the email address you just added to use it. If you only want it for iMessage, select "No" from the prompt, then go to "Messages" inside Settings, tap on "Send & Receive," then tap on the email address you just added. Once you've added your new email address, people will now be able to contact you via FaceTime and iMessage using the new address provided. You can also have your new account show up as a Caller ID in FaceTime simply by tapping on it from within the FaceTime settings. Please note that while there's also an option to enter phone numbers as seen in Step 1, they can only be the phone number associated with your SIM card. We'll be sure to update this guide if this ever changes.Don't Miss: Log into FaceTime & Messages in iOS 11 with Alternate iCloud AccountsFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, and Instagram Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

How To: Customize Appearance Settings for Individual Android Apps on Your HTC One

How To: Customize Appearance Settings for Individual Android Apps on Your HTC One
By this point, you've definitely come across an app or two that wasn't designed with the HTC One in mind. Either the resolution is too small, the status bar stays active when it shouldn't, or the font isn't the ideal size. There are ways out there to get that changed, but up until now it wouldn't just change one app—it would change all of them. Now with App Settings, created by devs rovo89 and tungstwenty, you can easily modify the DPI, language, and font size of any app on your HTC One, and I'm going to show you how it's done. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
Since this is an Xposed module, be sure to have your HTC One rooted with the Xposed Framework installed and "Unknown sources" enabled.

Step 1: Install App SettingsOpen Xposed Installer, go to the Download section, and search for and install App Settings. Alternatively, you can grab the APK directly from the Xposed Module Repository online. After installing, you'll need to activate the module by checking it in the Modules section and rebooting your device.

Step 2: Change DPI SettingsTo change the DPI of an app, or any other of its settings, you will first have to open the App Settings app and select the target app from the list (in this case, I will change Google+). DPI, or dots per inch, is the density of pixels that controls how much of the screen real-estate is used by your apps. A higher DPI would result in bigger icons, and an overall "bigger" look to the app. In most cases you'd want to lower the DPI so that apps seem to take full advantage of your 4.7 inch display. On the left is the normal DPI of the One, 480, and on the right is the modified Google+ app with a DPI of 200. You probably wouldn't want to go that small, unless you've some spectacular vision. Once you've set the app to your liking, tap the save icon up top and then relaunch the app.

Step 3: Change Font SizeThe font scale in App Settings is not set by pixels, but rather a percent system. By default, it will be set at 100% and you can modify however you like. The font size will also scale with the DPI, so be sure to keep that in mind when changing your app's appearance. In the above images, the left is the normal 100% setting for fonts and the right is 150%.

Step 4: Force-Enable Immersive ModeWhen Google unveiled KitKat, they also introduced the Immersive Mode feature. If app developers included this feature, it would allow their app to go full screen while still allowing the user to bring back the status bar by swiping down from the top of the screen. Many apps are starting to include this by default, but if they do not, App Settings can force them to. Above is a comparison between Google+ with and without Immersive mode enabled.

Other OptionsYou can lock the screen orientation of an app and also prevent it from showing the title bar, as well as change the locale to a different country so that you can have certain apps be in different languages. There are also options to keep your display active the entire time the app is visible, so you don't have to worry about the auto lock. App permissions can also be revoked, so you can stop those apps that are a little too nosy, although this may cause certain apps to stop functioning completely. There you have it! You can now custom fit every app on your HTC One to your liking. Be sure to list any of your favorite app configurations in the comments below.

How To: Customize the Home Button Shortcut on Your Samsung Galaxy S3 for Any App You Want

How To: Customize the Home Button Shortcut on Your Samsung Galaxy S3 for Any App You Want
As mentioned before, the Home button is one of the most important keys on your Samsung Galaxy S3, and pretty much all Android devices for that matter. However, when it comes to customization, it's rather tame.If you've ever used Activator on a jailbroken iPhone, you know the potential that one button can have—and we can do something similar on our Android devices using an app called Home2 Shortcut by Android dev Hideki KatoSo instead of pressing the Home button on your GS3 to go to the Home screen or double-pressing to access S Voice (something I rarely use), we softModders can customize those actions to better suits our needs. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Disable the S Voice ShortcutCurrently, when you double-press on the Home button, S Voice will launch. It's the default shortcut assigned when double-pressing the Home key. So, in order to open up that shortcut, we'll first need to disable this one.Launch the S Voice feature by using the shortcut or by searching for it in the app menu. Once inside S-Voice, hit the Menu button to access the S Voice settings, and from there, simply deselect the "Open via the home key" option.

Step 2: Install Home2 ShortcutNow, if you have done so already, download and install the free Home2 Shortcut app from Google Play. Once installed, open it, and you'll be taken to a very basic black screen that actually lays out the directions for you in easy-to-follow steps. Images via wonderhowto.com But I'll lay out the basics for you here...

Step 3: Select Your Home Button Double-Tap ShortcutWith the S Voice feature unlinked to double-pressing, we can properly set up another shortcut. In the Home2 Shortcut app, you'll see HOME key > HOME key > App and a large button that says "Choose Application." Click on that button and you'll be able to select from a wide array of Installed Apps, Shortcuts, and Plug-ins.

Step 4: Set the TimingI'm not one to mess with things I find unnecessary, but after choosing your application, you can change the response time of your double tap. So, if you want a longer pause between taps, you can select very slow, but I would suggest just sticking with the default "Normal."

Step 5: Select Your Home Button Single-Tap ShortcutIn the second to last step, you can now choose between third-party launchers. I do not have any currently installed, so I went with the default TouchWiz app.

Step 6: Close & FinishNow just hit "Close," and make sure to select Home2 Shortcut for completing the set action, and select "Always." Now whenever you double-tap the Home button, you will be taken to whatever app or shortcut you you chose.

TroubleshootingIf your favorite app is not working, it could be because you selected TouchWiz home as your option instead of Home2 Shortcut. To fix this, simply go to Settings -> Application manager -> All and find the TouchWiz home app. Then just scroll down and hit Clear defaults to reset what app launches the shortcut. Then, just go back into Home2 Shortcut and retry, making sure you select it as the app that always launches the shortcut. And if you ever want to go back to the default TouchWiz home, just do the reverse and clear the defaults in the Home2 Shortcut app.

One thing to watch out for is the amount of heat emitted by high-powered LEDs, but as long as you find a way to dissipate the heat, this will work out just fine. How To: Add Speed-Dial to Your iPhone's Notification Center in iOS 8

How To: Add Speed-Dial to Your iPhone's Notification Center in iOS 8
Accessing your favorite and most recent contacts on your iPhone is now faster than ever before, thanks to the iOS 8 update. Just double-click your Home button, select your contact above the app switcher menu, then choose how you want to contact them. However, for some iOS users this was a very unwelcome feature; not everyone wants their recent contacts broadcast in such a visible manner. That's why we showed how to remove recent contacts from app switcher menu and just keep your favorites listed. If you don't like using the app switcher to access your favorite contacts, you can take advantage of the new widgets available for the Today view of the Notification Center. The widget we'll be using for favorite contacts on an iPad or iPhone is called Favorites Widget by Guy Gubi. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Selecting Your FavoritesOpen up the Favorites Widget app and begin adding your favorite contacts. The free version allows up to four to be displayed, though you can add more initially right off the bat (you just won't see them). You can also add groups, and then contacts within those groups, which is the one thing that makes Favorites Widget better than the stock app switcher method—you can't add groups in the app switcher. After you add your contacts, tap Widget, then select whether you want the widget to start expanded or minimized, as well as whether you want full names or just the initials of your contacts to show. (1) Accessing the "Widget" menu. (2) Widget options. (3) How groups look. You can also make an in-app purchase of $0.99 to enable unlimited contacts. If you try and tap "More" in the actual widget (see below), you'll be prompted to purchase. To reorder your favorites, it's the same as if you were doing it in the stock Contacts apps for the app switcher—just hit "Edit" and drag each contact into the order you want.

Step 2: Applying the WidgetIf this is your first widget, make sure to check out our guide on how to apply widgets in iOS 8 to see how it's done. After you've added the Favorites widget, your contacts will be present in the Today view of your Notification Center.

Step 3: Making Faster Calls to FavoritesFrom now on, pull down your Notification Center and quickly pick a contact to call. If you attempt this from the lock screen, you will need to input your passcode or Touch ID, so your contacts are secured from strangers calling them. If you added more than four contacts or groups in Step #1 above, then you'll see a "More" option in the widget, which will prompt you to purchase the pro features.
Notes on FunctionalityUnfortunately, as of now, you can only call your favorite contacts, but look for an update that allows for messaging options in the near future. Also, in my testing, you cannot add companies to your favorites list (except Apple for some reason). Any contact without a first and/or last name in your contacts will cause the widget to glitch out and not show you any contacts at all. So, if you can't see anything in the widget in your Notification Center, it's most likely because you tried adding a business as a contact. Delete it from the Favorites app and you will be good to go.Be sure to let us know what you think of the app in the comment section below, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.

Step 3: Edit the Notes. Since this app functions as a sort of Post-it note for your Notification Center, there's only one sheet available. Whenever you want to change the note, either entirely or just to add or subtract something from it, just tap on the widget in the Notification Center or go directly to the NoteDash app to make your changes.

How To: Give Group Messages Custom Names in iOS 8

How To: Give Group Messages Custom Names in iOS 8

Waking up to hundreds of text messages in the morning usually points to one thing—group messages. Whether it's your fantasy football league, your work buddies, or just a bunch of bored friends, group messages can leave your iPhone vibrating off the hook.If the group message is one you have no interest in at all, the answer in iOS 8 is simple—leave the group. But if you don't like leaving groups, and you tend to be included in many different group messages, you can at least get organized. In the new Messages app, it's hard to keep track of group messages because they show up as many contact names or phone numbers when viewing them. Luckily, you can now name a group message thread in iOS 8 so that you always know which one is which. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
In the Messages app on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch running iOS 8, select a group message thread, tap on Details in the top right, and swipe down from the middle of the screen in order to access the hidden group name setting. (1) Hit the "Details" option. (2) Pull down from the middle of the screen to access the group name. Since the group chat I selected revolves around fantasy football, I named the thread "Fantasy Football League." Once the name is selected, go back and you should see the new name of the group chat in the Messages app, instead of the names of all the contacts like before (on the homepage) and instead of "Group" (in the actual thread). (1) My new group message name. (2) Time-stamped noticed for everyone. Anytime you (or someone else) changes the name of the group message, you'll receive a time-stamped notice within the thread that shows what the conversation name has been changed to and at what time.Unfortunately, anyone in the thread can change the name of the group message (unless they're not using iOS 8), so whatever name it was changed to last will appear across all devices of those who are in the chat. This may become a problem since everyone might try and change the name. I know my friends would. At least we can leave the group message whenever we want now. Alternatively, you can turn on "Do Not Disturb" in Messages so your iPhone won't be vibrating all day long, that way you can still see the messages, just not be annoyed by all of the notifications.

How To: Disable Annoying Rating & Review Popups for Apps in iOS 11 on Your iPhone

How To: Disable Annoying Rating & Review Popups for Apps in iOS 11 on Your iPhone

One thing that annoys the hell out of me is when a popup appears on my iPhone in an app I'm using asking me for a rating or review on the iOS App Store. I like to share my opinion on applications just as much as the next person, but I want to give stars when I'm good and ready. Now, iOS 11 lets me.Now, this feature isn't entirely new to iOS 11. The iOS 10.3 beta included a way to disable in-app prompts for ratings and reviews, but it never made the final cut of any full release. That's not the case with iOS 11 — it's been included in all of the iOS 11 betas, and has touched down in all its glory in the full iOS 11 release to everyone.Don't Miss: 90+ Cool New iOS 11 Features You Didn't Know AboutTo disable those annoying feedback requests inside apps on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch running iOS 11, just go to Settings -> iTunes & App Store, then toggle off "In-App Ratings & Reviews." That's it. Now, most of those unwanted prompts will be disabled, as long as app developers are using Apple's newish SKStoreReviewController API to invoke the standardized popup. This new API actually limits the number of feedback requests that can appear every year to just three per app, but that can still be annoying since you likely have more than ten or twenty apps you use frequently. If app developers use some other way to prompt you for ratings or reviews, you might still get prompts somehow even after disabling this feature, since this toggle is tied directly to the SKStoreReviewController API that was introduced in iOS 10.3. However, this won't last long. Unlike before when it was optional, now it is mandatory for developers to use Apple's API for review prompts.Use the provided API to prompt users to review your app; this functionality allows customers to provide an App Store rating and review without the inconvenience of leaving your app, and we will disallow custom review prompts.
— Updated App Store Review Guidelines - AppleApple's in-app ratings and reviews system allow you to rate the app without having to go the App Store, so it's now easier than ever to provide feedback — without totally annoying you. Plus, the three per year limit means you won't be bombarded with new prompts after each weekly app update. Still, it could get annoying, so it's good Apple included a kill switch system-wide for users.Don't Miss: The 6 Best Features in the New iOS 11 App Store for iPhonesFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, and Instagram Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+
